Program Overview
- Serves students 18 years old and older who have not graduated or have no high school experience.
- One on one advisory model
- Academic/Community Programs offered.
- Concurrent enrollment with Fresno City College or other job entities offered.
- Offers opportunity for students enrolled in the English language acquisition classes to enroll in the High School Diploma program.
- Partnership with the Workforce Investment Board and other agencies.
Graduation Requirements:
The graduation requirements for the Adult High School Program meet the California State minimum graduation requirements in effect at the time of the student’s enrollment, along with some additional academic and elective requirements. Students, who cannot graduate within two years because of credit deficiency, may be offered an alternative means to graduate as described in Education Code 51225.3. Some students may attend specifically to increase their English/Language arts and math skills to improve their employability and/or prepare them for other post-secondary education such as community college or a career college.
Most traditional high schools require 230 to 290 units of credit to graduate from high school. At Big Picture, we follow the minimum of 170 units of credits to receive a High School Diploma from the adult high school program.
Additional requirements for graduation are Research Project, Senior Leadership/Service Project, Graduation Portfolio, Exhibition of Learning, Personal Resume, and Exit Survey.
